Privacy Policy
Last updated September 30, 2026
The Lobby is a competitive Fortnite hub: tournament tracking, player profiles, a social feed, and private communities. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the control you have over it. We only collect what we need to run those features, and we never sell your data.
Information you give us
Account details. Your name and email address. If you sign up with email, your password is stored only as a one-way hash; we can never see it.
Profile. Your display name, profile picture, banner image, bio, region, and any X, Twitch, or YouTube handles you choose to add, plus the preferences you pick during onboarding (goal and preferred format).
Posts and activity. Posts you publish to the feed, the players you follow, and the communities you create or manage.
Communities. When you create a community, you add players by their Epic username. We store the community name, description, and each member's public Epic account ID and display name.
Information from Epic Games and other sign-in providers
Epic Games. If you link or sign in with Epic, Epic Account Services shares your Epic account ID and public display name with us (the basic_profile scope). We use these to verify that you own your Epic identity and to match your tournament results. We never receive your Epic password, email, payment details, purchases, or friends list.
Discord or Google. If you sign in with Discord or Google, that provider shares your account ID, name, email, and profile picture with us.
Sign-in tokens. Tokens from these providers are stored on our servers so your link keeps working. They are never shown to other users or to your browser.
Information we collect automatically
Sessions and devices. When you sign in, we record your IP address, browser, and operating system and when each session was last active. That list is shown to you in Settings so you can spot and sign out unfamiliar devices.
Analytics and logs. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views in aggregate without cookies or cross-site tracking. Our hosting provider also keeps standard request logs for a short period to keep the service secure and working.
Cookies. We only use the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Public tournament data
Tournament placements, points, and eliminations come from Epic's public competitive leaderboards. We store these results, together with each player's public Epic account ID, display name, and region, to power event leaderboards, site rankings, and player pages. This covers every player in those events, whether or not they have a Lobby account, because the information is already public on Epic.
AI coach
When you run a Live Coach session, you choose which screen or window to share. Screenshots from it are sent to an AI model through the Vercel AI Gateway so it can give you feedback. The coach's replies are turned into speech by a voice provider (ElevenLabs or Fish Audio).
We don't keep the raw screenshots or audio. We only keep a short summary of each session (the time, how long it lasted, and the coach's notes) so you can look back at it. The AI providers process this data only to answer your request. Sharing stops the moment you end the session or close the tab.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To verify your Epic identity and show your real tournament results and site rating.
- To show your profile, posts, and follows, and to run the communities you belong to.
- To write personalized greetings and summaries that are based only on your real stats.
- To prevent abuse, fix bugs, and keep the service reliable.
Who can see what
Public. Your profile (display name, picture, banner, bio, region, social handles), your posts, your follower counts, and your tournament results can be seen by anyone.
Communities. A community, its member list, and its leaderboard can be seen only by its owner and signed-in users whose linked Epic account is a member. Nobody else can find it.
Private. Your email address, sign-in tokens, device sessions, and coach session history are visible only to you.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that run The Lobby for us, and only as much as each one needs:
- Vercel: hosting, image storage (Vercel Blob), analytics, and the AI Gateway.
- Neon: our database.
- Epic Games, Discord, and Google: sign-in and account linking.
- ElevenLabs and Fish Audio: the coach's voice.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users, or as part of a merger or sale of the service, in which case this policy would still apply.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your account, profile, uploaded images, posts, follows, coach sessions, the communities you own, and your sign-in links from our systems. Public tournament results stay in our leaderboards because they come from Epic's public data. Request logs and backups expire on their own shortly afterwards.
Your choices and rights
In Settings you can edit your profile, change your email or password, sign out other devices, and delete your account at any time.
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR in the EU and UK, or CCPA in California), you may also have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how we use it, or move it elsewhere. Email us to make a request and we'll respond within 30 days. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
If you don't have an account and want your public Epic name removed from a community or from our stored results, email us and we'll handle it.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are hashed, sign-in tokens stay on our servers, and every private request is checked against your signed-in account. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever discover a breach that affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
International transfers
The Lobby and our providers operate mainly in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the country where you live. Where the law requires it, we rely on standard safeguards such as the providers' data processing agreements.
Children
The Lobby is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete the account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the latest version, and for significant changes we will also let you know in the app.
Not affiliated with Epic Games
The Lobby is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Epic Games. Fortnite is a trademark of Epic Games, Inc.
